OKEMOS SOLAR RACING ======================================================================== https://etservice.us/work/solar-racing Status: Team project Year: 2023-2026 Role: Electrical team member (2023); Electrical Lead, CAN telemetry and electrical systems (2025-26) Electrical systems and ESP32-based CAN telemetry for a solar-powered race car. 01. THE PROBLEM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A race car needs more than moving parts. The team needed reliable electrical systems and a way to see what the vehicle was doing during testing and competition. 02. WHAT I BUILT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I joined the electrical team and built CAN telemetry for the car that placed first in the 2023 Solar Car Challenge Classic Division, connecting sensors and controllers through the CAN bus to ESP32-based display and logging. I later became electrical lead for the 2025-26 season, running the seven-person electrical group. 03. WHAT I LEARNED ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vehicle electronics make every weak assumption physical: connectors loosen, signals get noisy, and test-day debugging has a clock running. 04. WHAT'S NEXT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Add the exact system diagram, a test-day failure story, and more telemetry photographs.
